About this role
Corteva Agriscience™ is seeking innovative and highly motivated students to join our Research & Development organization as an AI Engineering Intern for our 2027 Summer Internship Program in Indianapolis, IN . As artificial intelligence continues to transform scientific research, Corteva is expanding the use of AI agents, large language models (LLMs), and agentic workflows to accelerate discovery and decision-making across our R&D portfolio. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of enterprise AI deployment, helping to design, optimize, and scale AI-powered solutions that support research teams across the organization. The selected intern will contribute to the development and governance of our growing AI ecosystem by organizing reusable agent capabilities, supporting Model Context Protocol (MCP) server deployments, and improving the efficiency of AI agent operations. A key focus of this role will be evaluating and optimizing LLM token consumption, helping reduce operational costs while maintaining high-quality agent performance. This position provides hands-on experience with modern AI technologies, agent orchestration frameworks, enterprise AI infrastructure, and real-world R&D applications. What You’ll Do: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of scientists, engineers, data scientists, and software developers to support AI-driven research initiatives. Assist in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of AI agents and supporting infrastructure. Organize, document, and manage reusable AI resources, including MCP servers, agent Skills, prompts, and tool integrations. Analyze LLM usage patterns and identify opportunities to improve token efficiency, response quality, and operational cost management. Develop dashboards, metrics, and reporting processes to monitor agent performance, utilization, and effectiveness. Contribute to the design and implementation of agentic workflows that automate research and business processes. Support testing, evaluation, and continuous improvement of AI agents across multiple R&D use cases. Participate in the development of best practices, governance standards, and documentation for enterprise AI systems. What Skills You Need: Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited college or university. Pursuing a Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline. Experience with Python programming and software development fundamentals. Familiarity with machine learning, large language models, generative AI, or natural language processing concepts. Experience working with data analysis, APIs, or cloud-based technologies (AWS, Azure). Have the right to work in the U.S. without restriction. What Makes You Stand Out: Experience with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar agent frameworks. Familiarity with MCP (Model Context Protocol), agentic AI concepts, or AI orchestration platforms. Experience working with AWS, or other cloud computing environments. Knowledge of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases, or AI evaluation methodologies (e.g. MlFlow, sandbox environments). Experience using Git, DevOps practices, and collaborative software development workflows. Are you a good match? Apply today!
