Job Title: Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer Job Code: 42599 Job Location: Huntsville, AL- AMF South Job Schedule: 4/10: Employees work 10 hour days, 4 days a week Job Description: We are currently seeking a proactive Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer with a strong desire for problem-solving to join our dynamic team at L3Harris in Huntsville, AL. Working for the Critical Process Task Force supporting manufacturing across the organization. In this role, you will be instrumental in identifying, analyzing, and overcoming manufacturing challenges, thereby significantly enhancing operational efficiency and product quality. Your role will be central to shaping and driving creative solutions for complex manufacturing issues, improving production performance, and helping the team navigate technical challenges. As a collaborative and resourceful member of our cross-functional team, you will apply robust analytical skills and an innovative mindset to troubleshoot, iterate, and evolve our manufacturing processes. Your adaptability and critical thinking will be key as you navigate a wide range of engineering challenges and contribute to operational excellence and continuous improvement. Essential Functions: Lead resolution of complex manufacturing issues to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and production efficiency. Develop and implement corrective actions and process improvements that address production challenges, reduce waste, and strengthen operational performance. Lead cross-functional efforts with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Design Engineering, and other stakeholders to remove technical and execution barriers. Refine and uphold manufacturing standards, processes, and execution discipline while maintaining a strong hands-on problem-solving presence. Conduct root cause investigations and apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other structured problem-solving methods to drive continuous improvement. Interpret technical, process, and production data, and translate findings into clear recommendations and action plans for the team. Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance. Travel: 15%.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior Manufacturing/Engineering experience; or a Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Manufacturing/Engineering experience; or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior Manufacturing/Engineering experience. Preferred Additional Skills: Experience leading manufacturing engineering projects, production support efforts, or recurring issue resolution in aerospace, defense, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing environments. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, RCCA, statistical process control, or equivalent structured problem-solving expertise. Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, manufacturing work instructions, routers, and technical data packages. Experience with ERP/MRP, MES, PLM or similar tools used to support manufacturing execution. CREO experience is desired. PLC programming
