This is a unique opportunity for you to work in our team to partner with the Business to provide a comprehensive view. As an Associate in EMEA Consumer, Healthcare and Retail Wholesale Credit Risk team covering corporate clients in the Commercial & Investment Bank (CIB). You will cover a diversified portfolio of Investment and Non-Investment Grade counterparties, with responsibility for conducting credit analysis, managing portfolio exposures, and reviewing and approving transactions across a wide range of credit products. Job Responsibilities
Prepare concise credit memos with clear recommendations on transaction structure, risk appetite, and grading. Support due diligence, leading where required, and prepare credit analysis of counterparties. Build and maintain financial models; challenge key assumptions, design downside scenarios, and articulate modelling conclusions to stakeholders. Negotiate and interpret loan documentation (including LMA standards and leveraged finance) and derivative or other facility terms to mitigate risk. Manage and monitor the credit risk portfolio across sectors and products, including ongoing tracking of ratings, sector trends, and client performance; proactively adjust limits and manage exposures. Cover a broad product set, including secured and unsecured loans, derivatives, trade finance, and treasury products. Coordinate with senior leaders across the Commercial & Investment Bank, product specialists, and senior Credit Officers to align risk decisions and approvals. Apply firm risk management policies and engage with control stakeholders, including Regulators and Auditors.
Develop junior talent through structured coaching, on-the-job training, and formal learning sessions.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Demonstrated analytical rigor and credit judgment, with the ability to identify, quantify, and communicate key risks. Proficiency in financial modelling and scenario analysis relevant to a range of lending contexts (investment grade, leveraged lending, venture lending). Familiarity in leveraging AI tools to support analysis and enhance efficiency. Knowledge of transaction structures, loan documentation (LMA, leveraged finance), and banking products sufficient to support negotiation and execution. Strong project management capability with end-to-end ownership of workstreams; effective prioritization and multi-tasking in a dynamic environment. Clear, effective written and verbal communication; ability to establish credibility with clients and internal stakeholders. Ability to coach and develop junior colleagues. Self-directed, results-oriented, adaptable, and motivated to drive continuous improvement. Prior experience in a comparable credit or risk environment. Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, or related area (advanced degree a plus).
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Previous experience (2-3+ years) in a Credit Risk department or leveraged finance underwriting, including skills in cash flow modelling and financial analysis. Familiarity with corporate business models, sponsor dynamics, and covenant packages Strong stakeholder management skills in a matrix organization Working towards / having a professional certification (e.g. CFA, FRM) are considered a plus
