About this role

Join our Team
We are seeking talented Master's students to conduct a research thesis on evaluating torque loss in screw-joined interfaces that undergo thermal cycling. This role combines finite element method (FEM) simulation with experimental measurements on different fastener solutions, offering hands-on experience in thermal and mechanical engineering and analysis.

Key Responsibilities

Perform thermal cycling tests using test fixtures to explore different fastener configurations and solutions, assess different approaches, and measure torques and track thermal-induced effects Develop and validate FE-models in ANSYS Mechanical to simulate torque application and retention following thermal cycling Compare simulation results with experimental data and draw conclusions and formulate analysis methodology that can be used in future assessments Document findings and provide recommendations Collaborate with engineering team to ensure technical feasibility   Required Skills and Qualifications Enrolled in a Master's program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar field Strong foundation in engineering design and solid mechanics Experience in or willingness to quickly learn FEM tools and analysis techniques Basic knowledge of CAD tools and handling (e.g., Creo, SpaceClaim) Experience with experimental testing and data analysis Solid technical writing and communication abilities Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail   Preferred Qualifications Previous FEM project experience Familiarity with structural simulation or noise measurement techniques Experience with design optimization methodology Programming skills (Python, MATLAB) for post-processing   What We Offer Mentorship from experienced engineers, access to industry-standard tools, and the opportunity to contribute to a real product development cycle.
