Job Description

Please note that applications will be assessed on a rolling basis. Due to anticipated interest, the role may close earlier than the stated deadline. We recommend submitting your application promptly. The advertised closing date is September 25, 2026.

About the Role

Join RiverSource as a Data Analytics & AI Intern and gain valuable hands-on experience applying data and emerging technologies to solve real business challenges. Working alongside experienced professionals across analytics, operations, insurance, and project teams, you will transform data into actionable insights that help leaders make informed, strategic decisions. We are seeking a curious and motivated student who enjoys working with data, is eager to learn, and has a genuine interest in how analytics and AI can drive innovation, improve processes, and create business value.

Key Responsibilities

Review business and operational data to identify trends, questions, and opportunities for improvement.  Help create or improve dashboards, reports, scorecards, or visuals that make information easier to understand.  Partner with team members to learn how data supports insurance, operations, and leadership decision-making.  Explore practical ways AI or automation could simplify recurring work or improve business processes.  Organize findings and help translate data into clear, audience-friendly recommendations.  Collaborate with business partners and present project learnings or recommendations at the end of the internship.

Required Qualifications

Current undergraduate student with an expected graduation date of December 2027 or May/June 2028.  Interest in data analytics, business analytics, artificial intelligence, data science, operations, finance, insurance, or a related area.  Comfort working with information, asking questions, and solving problems.  Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and nontechnical audiences.  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior coursework or exposure to statistics, analytics, reporting, visualization tools, databases, or AI-enabled tools.  Exposure to data visualization, reporting, querying, or analytical tools.  Interest in learning how AI and automation can improve business processes and decision-making.  Curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn unfamiliar business concepts.    Visa Sponsorship  Applicants must have a valid work authorization that does not now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship for employment in the United States (e.g., H-1B, F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, TN).  In-Office Collaboration  We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders — clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed
