Software Development Engineer II, Amazon Lists

We're looking for a Software Development Engineer II to design and build the systems powering Amazon's next-generation Lists and Collaborative Shopping experiences. Our team is re-imagining how hundreds of millions of customers curate, discover, and connect through lists. We're applying generative AI to transform Wish Lists, shared lists, gifting, and collaborative shopping into intelligent, personalized experiences on top of Tier-1 systems serving billions of daily requests across every Amazon surface. You'll work on services that power these experiences and you'll do it during a pivotal moment as we integrate AI-native capabilities into our core framework. This is a role for someone who enjoys end-to-end ownership: diving into ambiguous customer problems, designing distributed systems that scale, writing production code, and measuring customer impact. You'll work across our full stack (back end services, APIs, and integrations with Amazon's shopping ecosystem) and partner closely with product managers, and designers to ship features that customers use every day. Key job responsibilities As a Software Development Engineer, you will: Design, develop, test, and maintain software components and applications that serve hundreds of millions of customers Troubleshoot and resolve software defects using code reviews, log analysis, metrics evaluation, debugging, and other diagnostic techniques Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code as part of an agile engineering team Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to design, develop, test, and launch customer-focused software solutions Apply computer science and engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges Drive continuous improvements in testability, operational excellence, and documentation for owned components Ensure proper data classification, storage, and management in compliance with company policies About the team Customers shop everywhere and at any time - whether they're making breakfast, commuting to work, or relaxing at home. They create lists for personal use, share them with friends and family, and use them to discover the millions of products Amazon offers. Lists are essential to helping customers complete their shopping missions and serve as a valuable signal for other Amazon teams, such as Personalization, to enhance product recommendations across the site.
