About this role

Tax Executive - - - - - - - - - - - - MISSION The Tax Executive – Indirect Taxation will be responsible for managing and executing all activities related to Value Added Tax (VAT), including reporting, reconciliations, audit support, and compliance with Sri Lankan tax laws. This role requires strong attention to detail, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to handle multiple reporting formats and deadlines efficiently. KEY EXPECTED ACHIEVEMENTS Prepare monthly VAT Schedule 6 in coordination with the Export Department, including all export and remittance receivable details for VAT return submission. Liaise with all manufacturing plants to gather employee meal and transport cost data, prepare VAT liability reports, and post journal entries to allocate costs to relevant cost centers. Provide general and specific documentation for IRD audits and amend VAT returns when necessary. Maintain and reconcile the monthly input tax file with the VAT recoverable account; collaborate with the CBS internal Service Lines Such as S2P. Clear input invoices in SAP and compile VAT Schedule 2 for submission with returns. Reconcile the monthly import customs report with the Board of Investment (BOI) report and prepare Schedule 3 for IRD submission. Conduct monthly export remittance reconciliations to validate receipts against invoices. Finalize six-month export remittance reconciliations and calculate provisions for disallowed VAT. Compile and submit monthly bank statements (Euro/USD) from HSBC and Commercial Banks for IRD audit purposes. Monitor input VAT recoverable accounts daily for ML and MBSL; identify and resolve invoice issues with CBS AP Invoicing Team Reconcile and clear VAT provision GL accounts monthly to prevent SAP exchange rate discrepancies.2. Perform import reconciliations by comparing Customs and SAP reports; flag and communicate discrepancies to the Import Department. Conduct monthly export reconciliations by comparing SAP sales data with Customs reports. Summarize and consolidate findings. Prepare the BOI Savings Report. Perform revenue reconciliations, including value-wise customs reconciliations. CANDIDATE PROFILE Bachelor's Degree specialized in Accounting & Finance, Business Management or equivalent. Part qualification in CA (SL) /CIMA (UK)/ ACCA (UK) will be an added advantage.   2 – 3 years of relevant experience. Good knowledge of Tax procedures and General Accounting. Experience in ERP system, preferably in SAP (FI, MM) or any other ERP system. Good Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel) and power point presentation. Excellent level of verbal and written English communication skills; Ability to work in a fast -paced environment maintaining accuracy & attention to detail.
