About this role
Shape Your World At Alcoa, you will become an essential part of our purpose: to turn raw potential into real progress. The way we see it, every Alcoan is a work-shaper, team-shaper, idea-shaper & world-shaper. At Alcoa, you will become an essential part of our purpose: to turn raw potential into real progress. As we continue to lead the way in mine rehabilitation and sustainable land management, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to shape the future of rehabilitation performance across our Western Australian operations.
About the Role
At Alcoa, rehabilitation is about more than restoring landscapes. It is about creating a legacy through sustainable land management, environmental stewardship and successful mine closure outcomes. We are seeking an experienced environmental leader to take on the newly created role of Principal Rehabilitation Estate, providing strategic oversight of our rehabilitation estate. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape rehabilitation handback, land-use planning, stakeholder engagement and long-term estate stewardship across Western Australia. Reporting to the Regional Environment Manager - Rehabilitation, you will lead the strategic management of Alcoa's rehabilitation estate, bringing together rehabilitation performance, closure and regulatory requirements, land-use considerations and stakeholder expectations to support informed decision-making and successful handback outcomes. Working across Regional Environment, WA Mining, Closure, Planning, Approvals, Government Affairs and external stakeholders, you will provide the leadership and coordination needed to maintain visibility of rehabilitation estate risks, opportunities and priorities while helping shape Alcoa's long-term rehabilitation legacy. This role offers flexibility to be based from any of our WA locations, although regular interaction across both Perth and the WA Mining Hub in Pinjarra will be important, particularly during the establishment of the role. You'll also enjoy a Monday to Friday roster with a paid day off every four weeks, providing greater flexibility and supporting a healthy work-life balance. Key responsibilities include: Lead the strategic management and stewardship of Alcoa's rehabilitation estate, ensuring long-term rehabilitation outcomes and handback readiness. Drive rehabilitation handback planning, including prioritisation of handback areas, development of test cases, and preparation of supporting submissions and evidence. Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, land managers, Traditional Owners and other stakeholders to support land-use planning and rehabilitation outcomes. Identify and manage rehabilitation estate risks, coordinate remediation and drive continuous improvement initiatives to support successful long-term outcomes. Provide leadership and coordination across multidisciplinary teams, partnering with rehabilitation, closure, planning, approvals, government affairs and technical specialists. Deliver governance, reporting and decision support to ensure rehabilitation estate activities are aligned with strategic objectives, regulatory requirements and future land-use commitments.
