Job Summary We are looking for a talented Manufacturing Engineer for our position in Rocky Mount, NC . In this role, you will provide day‑to‑day engineering support to production lines to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. You will help manage capital projects from planning through execution, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to deliver equipment and process upgrades that align with business goals. This position plays a key role in driving improvements to key manufacturing metrics, including Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), by identifying issues, analyzing data, and implementing sustainable solutions. Success in this role requires strong project management capabilities, technical problem‑solving skills, and the ability to lead or support initiatives that enhance quality, productivity, and equipment performance. Candidates with Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher, as well as experience in tool design, automated equipment, or troubleshooting complex systems, will be especially well‑positioned to excel. In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Supporting Manufacturing Projects: Assists with defined project activities to develop and implement manufacturing processes that consistently meet safety, quality, productivity, and product specification requirements. Applying Manufacturing Principles: Contributes technical knowledge and understanding of manufacturing practices to enhance equipment capabilities and optimize process performance. Improving Processes: Participates in process improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and recommending updates that improve reliability, flow, and production outcomes. Developing Standards: Assists in creating and refining manufacturing standards, work methods, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and operational excellence. Using Continuous Improvement Tools: Applies basic continuous improvement methodologies (such as root cause analysis and workflow optimization) to support the development of more efficient manufacturing systems. Collaborating Cross‑Functionally: Works with internal teams and external partners to complete project assignments, exchange information, and support alignment across engineering and manufacturing functions. Building Technical Knowledge: Learns and applies Cummins-specific manufacturing principles, tools, and practices to become proficient in supporting production processes. Contributing to Safe Operations: Supports efforts that reinforce a strong safety culture by ensuring processes, equipment updates, and work methods adhere to safety and compliance requirements.
