Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Engineering Intern to join our team in Chicago, Illinois . This position is expected to begin in May 2027.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work on projects such as planning and design for streets and transit infrastructure improvements. CAD design, quantity calculations, and preparation of plan drawings. Internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study Intern 2 – completion of second year of qualified study Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and must have completed at least two years of study . Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship. Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation/OpenRoads. Basic knowledge of transportation topics. Willingness to pursue an Engineer-in-Training certification upon graduation by having passed or have a plan to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. Good interpersonal skills, good command of the English language both verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly, good time management skills, and a good attitude toward work. Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
