Position Summary
In addition to managing a wide variety of events at the complex, this position also serves as a multi-faceted Event Manager for producing all levels and types of events, including in-house, amphitheater, and swim meets. Prepares event outlines and scaled drawings of event areas. Coordinates equipment and personnel service distribution and other functions and duties as required by the event. Serves as lead on-site contact with the event promoter from planning the event, move-in of the event to the facility, the actual event, and move-out of the event. As Manager of the event, supervises facility operations, including outside contractors and facility employees. Prepares and compiles and communicates lessee event expense information for use by the business department in financial settlement of the event. This role will pay an annual salary of $60,000 - $65,000 Benefits for Full-Time roles: Health, Dental and Vision Insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, 401(k) matching, and Paid Time Off (vacation days, sick days, and 11 holidays) This position will remain open until December 4, 2026.
About the Venue
The Rhode Island Convention Center (RICC) is located in the heart of Providence's downtown. The RICC features 100,000 square feet of flexible exhibit space and an additional 67,000 square feet of ballroom, breakout, and meeting spaces. Capable of hosting trade shows, consumer shows, exhibits, receptions, banquets, meetings, tournaments, and competitions and, of course, conventions, event planners will enjoy a collaborative partnership with our knowledgeable and professional staff. The RICC is connected to the Amica Mutual Pavilion and the 564-room Omni Providence Hotel, and in turn, Providence Place, a downtown shopping destination filled with big-name retailers and an assortment of dining and entertainment options. Known to locals as "The AMP PVD," the 14,000-seat Amica Mutual Pavilion (formerly the Dunkin' Donuts Center) is home to the AHL Providence Bruins and the Big East Providence College Friars. The arena hosts sporting events, major concerts, family shows, and trade shows.
Responsibilities
Serves as primary on-site contact with every promoter for events ranging in gross revenue to potentially more than $1M. Position is primary on-site contact for planning of the event, move-in of the event into the facility, the actual event, and move-out of the event, requiring that this manager frequently adapt all internal and external resources to often-changing scenarios.
