What this job involves: As Lead Engineer at JLL, you'll serve as the technical lead responsible for the operational excellence and strategic oversight of building systems across a complex facility or portfolio. This critical role combines hands-on engineering expertise with leadership capabilities, ensuring all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems operate at peak performance while maintaining a safe, comfortable environment for occupants. You'll report to the JLL Facility Manager and work closely with property management, client, and vendors to drive preventive maintenance programs, projects, and emergency response protocols. What your day-to-day will look like: Oversee all building systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, fire/life safety, building automation, and emergency power generation to ensure optimal performance and reliability Develop, implement, and perform comprehensive preventive maintenance programs, tracking completion rates and adjusting schedules based on equipment performance data and manufacturer recommendations Respond to emergency situations including system failures, power outages, and life safety events, coordinating with internal teams and external vendors to minimize downtime and ensure occupant safety Manage projects from conception through completion, including scope development, vendor selection, budget management, and quality assurance Conduct regular facility inspections to identify potential issues, ensure code compliance, and maintain detailed documentation of all building systems and maintenance activities Collaborate with Facility Manager and client representatives to develop annual operating budgets, track expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising service quality Coordinate with external contractors and service providers, managing relationships, reviewing proposals, and ensuring all work meets specifications and safety standards Monitor energy consumption patterns and implement sustainability initiatives that reduce operating costs while supporting environmental objectives Required qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in building operations and facilities engineering Stationary Engineer License, Chief Engineer License, or equivalent jurisdiction-specific certification as required by local regulations Comprehensive knowledge of commercial building systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and building automation systems Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams in a fast-paced facility environment Strong understanding of local, state, and federal building codes, OSHA regulations, and life safety requirements Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and equipment specifications Demonstrated experience managing maintenance budgets, projects, and vendor relationships Excellent
