Standard Job Description As a Senior Mechanisms Engineer, your responsibilities may include some of the following: • Work under the limited direction of other mechanism engineers to research, design, analyze, and develop innovative components, assemblies, and systems of varying complexity while assuring sound technical rigor and timely delivery. • Functionally own specific mechanical systems and delegate tasks • Develop, review, and maintain engineering documents, specifications, and technical analyses, including 3D solid models and 2D drawings. • Be a member of multiple integrated product teams, reciprocally interacting with other engineers, adjacent functions, suppliers, and stakeholders, to support products through the entire engineering lifecycle. • Represent the organization in design reviews, readiness reviews, and review boards. • Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, and test personnel to supervise the build and validation of hardware in a production environment. • Traveling occasionally to supplier sites or other locations to validate parts, resolve issues, and provide support on site. Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education with commensurate years of professional experience Prior experience leading a small technical team in a collaborative and team-based environment using good verbal and written communication skills 2-3 years of demonstrated understanding of structures, mechanisms and materials and the application of Mechanical Engineering principles, theories and concepts Robust knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing in accordance with ASME Y14.5 and ability to perform complex detailed part and subsystem tolerance analysis Experience with solid model and drawing creation using 3D computer-aided design software, specification development, vendor interface, parts selection, and configuration control Ability to obtain a security clearance; US citizenship required Desired Skills Prior experience with complex mechanical subsystems and associated interfaces with other systems Understanding and ability to apply advanced Mechanical Engineering principles, theories, and concepts Experience with the production, test, and integration of mechanical systems Active security clearance Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00 At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
