Customer Care and Energy Solutions Division is recruiting an Electric Service Representative (ESR) to serve at the North Service Center. In this position, you’ll need strong customer service and written and verbal communication skills. You will be responsible for providing on-site technical advice and assistance to residential customers for the purposes of coordinating new or revised electrical service installations, ensuring safety of customers' installations and promoting more effective use of electrical energy. This position reports to the ESR Supervisor.

Here is more about what you'll be doing

• Communicate with customers to discuss electrical service installation issues, address electrical account inquiries, and answer general customer questions.

• Provide assistance to residential customers regarding City Light poli­cies, requirements, and rates when they request new or modified electrical service.

• Interpret codes and other requirements relating to electrical service installations; provide advice on service size, equipment configuration, point of service attachment, and route of service.

• Advise residential customers regarding conservation methods and direct customers to the appropriate unit within the Energy Solutions division for additional conservation advice and programs.

• Review residential customer electrical service plans to ensure plans are consistent with power availability and electrical service code requirements; prepare written responses to customers regarding requirements or corrections.

• Initiate electrical service installation orders for new or modified electrical services; calculate the cost for service connection and determine utilization rates.

• Coordinate City Light staff and resources to ensure that new or modified service will be provided to customers in a timely manner while communicating the project status to the customer.

• Conduct on-site inspections of new and modified electrical services to ensure safety and compliance with applicable requirements; follow up to ensure compliance prior to connection of service.

• Receive and respond to electrical service complaints and inquiries, investigate and initiate action necessary for resolution, e.g., downed wires, trees, or problems concerning service entrance equipment and electrical meters.

• Understand and adhere to safety requirements in the field and report hazards.

Requires a minimum of two years electrical utility, electri­cal sales, public relations or other work in which contact with the public was a significant factor; two years of college coursework in electrical science, business administration, or related field may substitute for a maximum of one year of the required experience.

Work Environment/Physical Demands
