The role
As the Radar Lead, you will be a key technical expert within the hardware team, responsible for supporting the integration of high-quality radar sensor data into our driver model. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape in automotive radar technologies. You will also create radar data quality guidelines for our product offerings and provide domain expertise in integration, debugging, and testing. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will help build out test capabilities and enable experiments in collaboration with software and model development teams.
Key responsibilities
• Continuously monitor and analyze advancements in automotive radar technologies and signal processing. Maintain an up-to-date internal knowledge base on the competitive landscape of radar technologies to ensure our software can accommodate the latest developments.
• Develop and enforce guidelines that ensure the radar point clouds and sensor data fed into our models maintain high quality standards. This includes establishing best practices for radar calibration, noise reduction, resolution, and range/velocity accuracy.
• Provide domain expertise for integrating radar sensor data into the AV2.0 driver model. Offer guidance on debugging radar-related issues, ensuring that data from different radar types is appropriately processed and incorporated into the model for optimal results.
• Build and enhance test frameworks to evaluate the impact of different radar inputs on model performance. Work with cross-functional teams to design experiments that assess the effectiveness of radar data under varying conditions (e.g. adverse weather, occlusion, clutter) and optimize data collection strategies.
• Work closely with software and model development teams to ensure radar data is processed and utilized correctly within the driver model. Drive experimentation to identify and implement improvements in radar data handling that positively impact model performance.
