About this role

Job Description

Role Overview FIS is seeking a senior Fraud / Financial Crime Product Counsel to provide strategic legal support for fraud prevention, financial crime compliance and integrity-focused products. This new role is part of FIS’s dedicated Product Counsel structure supporting Data, AI, Technology, Fraud, Financial Crime and Enterprise Platform priorities. The role reflects the growing importance of legal advice that is embedded directly into product development, especially where fraud, abuse, scams, financial crime and compliance controls must be considered by design. The successful candidate will serve as the legal owner for assigned fraud and financial crime product portfolios, working as an integrated product counsel who understands the product, the regulatory environment, the client base and the operational realities of supporting banks and credit unions. FIS’s product counsel model requires attorneys to engage early, provide risk-calibrated advice and coordinate across compliance, privacy, security, litigation and other specialists to deliver practical, unified guidance. This role is ideal for a senior lawyer who can help FIS build products that are resistant to fraud, abuse and scams while preserving speed to market and client trust.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the primary legal resource for assigned fraud prevention, financial crime compliance and integrity-focused product portfolios, owning product legal strategy across ideation, design, launch, business-as-usual support and product sunset or migration. Partner with product, fraud, compliance, data, technology, privacy, security, sales and business stakeholders to embed legal and regulatory considerations into product design and go-to-market planning. Advise on regulatory lanes that may be implicated by fraud and financial crime products, including banking, payments, consumer protection, privacy, data protection and financial crimes considerations. Help design product approaches that are resistant to fraud, abuse and scams by default, consistent with the dedicated integrity and financial-crime product counsel specialization identified in FIS’s Product Counsel structure. Build legal roadmaps that align with fraud and financial crime product milestones, including issue spotting, approvals, contracting readiness, launch requirements and post-launch monitoring. Maintain deep product and market knowledge, including product functionality, regulatory environment, target buyers, geographic markets, product roadmap, revenue priorities and sales pipeline. Work closely with compliance counterparts to prevent gaps and duplicative work where legal and compliance responsibilities overlap. Support client-facing positions on fraud, compliance, security, privacy, subcontracting, service levels, audit, incident response and product-specific operational terms. Own and maintain contract templates, solution terms, specifications, product documentation and approved negotiation guidance for assigned fraud and financial crime products. Support sales pipeline calls, RFP responses and client negotiations where product-specific fraud, financial crime, compliance, security, data or regulatory issues require legal input. Identify third-party dependencies, critical vendors, network changes, data providers and subcontractors that may affect product risk, contractual commitments or client obligations. Advise on disputes, operational issues and litigation support involving fraud or financial crime products, including potential exposure, available remedies, change management, specifications, third-party dependencies and client communications. Train legal colleagues, business teams and sellers on product functionality, key contacts, approved templates, fallback positions, non-negotiables, pass-through obligations and recurring negotiation trends. Drive scalable process improvements, including intake triage, escalation discipline, precedent language, legal playbooks, training
