Position
Summary The ASIC System Infrastructure Support Specialist is responsible for supporting and maintaining the computing infrastructure used by ASIC Design, DFT, Verification, Validation, Characterization, and Test Engineering teams. This role serves as the primary local resource for Linux and Windows engineering systems, compute grid environments, engineering hardware, and engineering software infrastructure. Working closely with Engineering, Corporate IT, and external vendors, the specialist ensures reliable operation, performance, and availability of the systems and resources required for semiconductor development and test activities. The position combines Linux system administration, engineering workstation support, compute grid management, and infrastructure support for engineering software environments to enable efficient execution of engineering projects.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Engineering Infrastructure Administration Build, configure, deploy, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers supporting engineering development, verification, and test environments. Perform operating system updates, patching, security maintenance, and lifecycle management activities. Monitor system health, performance, capacity, and availability to ensure reliable operation. Diagnose and resolve hardware, operating system, storage, networking, and infrastructure-related issues. Coordinate server deployment, upgrades, expansion, and decommissioning activities with Corporate IT. Support backup, recovery, and business continuity processes for engineering systems. Maintain infrastructure documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures. Engineering Compute Grid Support Support distributed compute grid environments used for ASIC design, simulation, verification, and test workloads. Monitor compute resources, system utilization, and overall grid performance. Troubleshoot infrastructure-related scheduling, resource allocation, and job execution issues. Assist engineering teams with efficient utilization of compute resources. Support expansion and maintenance of engineering compute infrastructure. Engineering Workstation & Hardware Support Support Linux and Windows engineering workstations, laptops, and related computing equipment. Configure and deploy new engineering systems and hardware. Troubleshoot workstation performance, application issues, connectivity problems, and peripheral hardware concerns. Support monitors, docking stations, printers, storage devices, and other engineering equipment. Coordinate hardware repairs, upgrades, replacements, and warranty activities. Provide timely technical assistance to engineering users to minimize workflow disruption. Engineering Software Environment Support Assist with installation, deployment, and maintenance of engineering software and EDA tool environments. Support software license server infrastructure and assist with software access and licensing issues. Coordinate with engineering users, Corporate IT, and software vendors to resolve installation, configuration, and infrastructure-related software concerns. Maintain software inventories and support documentation. Document installation procedures, support processes, and user access
