Job Title: Senior Specialist, Mechanical Engineer Job Code: 44022 Job Location: Rockwall, TX Job Schedule: 9/80 - Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked (Every Other Friday Off) Job Description: L3Harris is seeking a Sr. Specialist, Mechanical Engineer that is responsible for designing the mechanical packaging of ultrawideband antenna and electronically scanned array (ESA) systems across various lifecycle phases for our Advanced Aperture Solutions (AAS) group. The Sr. Specialist, Mechanical Engineer will be part of a multi-disciplined engineering team working on diverse antenna development and production projects. As a Sr. Specialist, Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the design of detailed parts, assemblies, configuration management, environmental testing, and installations for various structures. The role is for an individual who is open to additional learning and would relish the opportunity to immerse themselves in both project work and research and development activities. The Advanced Aperture Solutions (AAS) group is quick reaction capability (QRC) aperture solutions business based in Rockwall, TX. AAS is responsible for the design and development of high-gain antenna systems for military airborne, maritime, and ground platforms. Our team has state-of-the-art design tools validated with real hardware prototypes including CST Design Studio Antenna Modeling Software, SolidWorks, Circuit Board design software, MATLAB software, SolidWorks software, and a PCB Laser that produces multiple same-day iterations of antenna designs. We ultimately provide critical ISR capabilities to fight and win in the SIGINT operating environment. Essential Functions: Responsible for research, preparation of engineering drawings, and coordination of design activities with Engineering and Production to ensure that designs meet manufacturability requirements. Understand complex antenna and phased array systems. Assess and report on mechanical project status, risks, and issues. Guide engineering team on mechanical best practices to ensure designs meet customer requirements. Designs will be accomplished using world-class, three-dimensional solid modeling CAD tools and work will be accomplished with senior-level design engineers. Assist the team with interfacing with customers on technical matters, ensuring satisfaction and business growth.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience. Preferred Additional Skills: Familiarity with configuration management tools such as Agile PDM and SolidWorks PDM. Experience with antenna simulation, analysis, and packaging tools including CST and SolidWorks. Phased array assembly design experience preferred. Metallic and non-metallic 3-D printing experience preferred. Experience with sinuous and spiral antenna cavity designs. Experience with aircraft integration assembly design. An understanding of programming languages (MATLAB, C/C++, LabVIEW, Qt, Python). Experience with wiring/block diagrams, mechanical drawings, and PCB schematic/layout
