Job Description
We are hiring a Project/ Cost Controls Specialist to drive cost control, performance reporting and baseline governance across complex projects. You will apply our project controls processes to ensure accurate budgets, forecasts and earned value insight that supports timely, informed decisions.
What you'll do
Work within company financial and project controls systems to capture, structure and report cost data. Build and maintain project baselines using drawings and specifications; support baseline budget creation. Manage cost control: track actuals vs budgets and funding limits; monitor POs, subcontracts and commitments. Apply earned value methods; prepare RVTMs-equivalent cost/schedule integration where relevant. Develop trending and forecasting; analyse progress and quantify cost/schedule impacts. Prepare reports, calculations and technical cost specifications for project reviews and stakeholders. Support invoice review/approval processes for contractors and suppliers. Contribute to scope control and change management, assessing cost impacts of changes. Participate in project cost review meetings; gather data to improve procedures and reporting.
Qualifications
Project Controls spans diverse backgrounds. If you have a solid foundation in cost control, earned value or forecasting, and experience using enterprise finance/project systems, we encourage you to apply—even if you don’t meet every point above.
Ideally you will have: Proficiency using enterprise financial/project systems and standard project controls processes. Working knowledge of accounting principles as applied to project cost management. Experience with requirements for earned value, cost/schedule integration and performance measurement. Ability to interpret drawings/specifications to establish and maintain cost baselines. Familiarity with Australian standards, governance expectations and reporting in major projects. Exposure to scheduling concepts and interfaces between schedule, cost, commitments and funding.
