What You Will Do

Immerse yourself in a full-time, Monday-Friday co-op session, that will run May/June- December (including the Fall semester; it is expected students will take a semester off from coursework to fully engage with this working mentorship opportunity).​ As a Certification Engineering Co-op at Collins Aerospace, you will support the team responsible for the research, planning, and execution of the FAA certification process for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our products meet and exceed the highest safety standards, empowering us to continue leading the industry. As part of your co-op experience, you’ll dive deep into the heart of aviation engineering, spearheading the research, planning, and execution of FAA certification processes for commercial aircraft seats and seating components. You will work with both our structural and flammability certification teams over a two-semester time frame (May/June-December). During your co-op experience you will have hands-on opportunities to apply your engineering knowledge and contribute directly to our certification efforts. You will work closely with experienced engineers and gain valuable insights into the aerospace industry's regulatory landscape, working on tasks related to seat testing, documentation, preparing Technical Standard Order (TSO) packages, and supporting the certification team. You will also learn about FAA regulations, the certification process, working as part of an integrated project team, and operating in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

You Must Have Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session. Must have a minimum of 45 hours of credit by the start of the internship / co-op session Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
