Overview
As a Senior Solution Architect within the BT Solution Architecture team, you will serve as the trusted technical authority for BT’s enterprise clients. You will bridge complex client business requirements with BT’s industry-leading Managed Network Services, Global Fabric, and Multi-Cloud connectivity portfolio. In this role, you will lead the technical strategy and end-to-end architecture design for transformative deals—specifically integrating SD-WAN, Enterprise Ethernet / Connectivity, and Multi-Cloud Networking. You will work closely with BT Sales, Product Management, Commercial, and Delivery teams to create secure, resilient, and cost-effective digital infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Discovery: Lead pre-sales discovery workshops with senior enterprise stakeholders (CTO, Head of Network, Lead Architects) to capture business objectives, technical constraints, and operational requirements. Solution Architecture & Design: Author comprehensive High-Level Designs (HLD), Bill of Materials (BOM), and Statements of Work (SOW) spanning core networking, cloud connectivity, and managed services. Portfolio Integration: Architect integrated solutions combining: Hands-on experience migrating away from legacy systems (e.g., Amdocs Cramer, Netcracker, Ericsson Granite, BMC Remedy , other home-grown apps) to modern or cloud-native inventory applications (e.g., ServiceNow, CMDB,TNI , Telecom Service Management, Blue Planet Inventory). Skill in defining future-state inventory data models, APIs (specifically TM Forum Open APIs like TMF638 for Service Inventory or TMF639 for Resource Inventory), and integration patterns. Track record of executing co-existence strategies where legacy and modern applications run in parallel during long-term migrations. Expertise in building complex ETL pipelines capable of processing network data points with zero operational downtime. Ability to design reconciliation engines that sync active live network state discovery tools with static inventory databases. Commercial & Bid Support: Collaborate with BT Bid Management and Commercial Pricing teams to ensure solution feasibility, SLA compliance, margin optimization, and competitive positioning against major MSPs/telecoms. Proof of Concept (PoC): Define PoC success criteria, lead technical demonstrations, and validate complex WAN-to-cloud failover and performance scenarios for prospective clients. Governance & Handover: Ensure all designs pass internal BT technical governance reviews and lead seamless transition handovers from Pre-Sales to Engineering and Delivery teams. Candidate Experience & Skills Required Technical Expertise Proven experience with OSS/BSS architectures, specifically managing Physical Network Functions (PNF), Virtual Network Functions (VNF), and Cloud-Native Network Functions (CNF) Deep understanding of Layer 1 to Layer 3 networking, including FTTH/GPON, IP-MPLS,IP VPN, ETHERNET, Cloud Interconnect and other could base networking products. Professional Experience & Soft Skills 5+ years in a Solution Architect, Pre-Sales Engineer, or Principal Technical Consultant role within a Telecom Operator, Managed Service Provider (MSP), or Systems Integrator and overall 15+ years of experience. Excellent client-facing presentation and communication skills, with a track record of translating complex technical concepts to non-technical business leaders. Strong commercial acumen and experience responding to enterprise RFPs, RFIs, and complex tenders. Desirable Certifications Networking & SD-WAN: CCNP / CCIE (Enterprise / Service Provider), Fortinet NSE 4/7, MEF-CECP.
