Senior Mechanical Engineer - Data Centers

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer - Data Centers. This role is based out of Richmond, VA.    The expected annual salary range for this role is $86000 - $126000 a year.   Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  What you’ll do: 
 The Senior Mechanical Engineer leads mechanical design activities for Data Center Power Systems products. This role owns projects from concept through production release and provides technical leadership in structural design, thermal management, product compliance, and manufacturability. Key Responsibilities •    Lead mechanical design and development of PDU, RPP, and STS product platforms. •    Design and optimize enclosure systems, bus support structures, internal assemblies, and mounting architectures. •    Perform mechanical analysis, tolerance studies, thermal evaluations, and structural assessments. •    Lead design reviews and technical decision-making activities. •    Develop solutions that improve product reliability, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost. •    Support certification and compliance requirements. •    Drive root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. •    Collaborate with electrical engineering, operations, quality, sourcing, and service teams. •    Mentor junior engineers and support technical development. Qualifications: 
 Required Qualifications •    Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. •    3+ years of mechanical design experience. •    Experience designing industrial equipment, electrical enclosures, switchgear, power distribution products, or similar equipment. •    Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and production manufacturing methods. Preferred Qualifications •    Experience with Data Center Power Distribution products. •    Working knowledge of:     o    UL 50    o    UL 891    o    UL 1008    o    NEC requirements affecting mechanical design •    Experience with thermal modeling and airflow optimization. •    Experience performing structural and vibration analysis. •    Familiarity with finite element analysis (FEA) tools. •    Experience supporting product certification and compliance testing.  Leadership Expectations •    Lead subsystem and platform-level mechanical design decisions. •    Drive design for manufacturability and design for serviceability initiatives. •    Mentor developing engineers and provide technical guidance.
