We are seeking a seasoned CAD Engineer and technical leader with deep expertise, or a strong passion for applying, Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to Physical Design flows . The ideal candidate has a proven track record of driving complex Physical Design challenges to closure, including timing signoff, low-power implementation using UPF, and overall design convergence.You possess a strong understanding of the trade-offs between Power, Performance, and Area (PPA) and are passionate about leveraging AI to enhance design quality, engineering productivity, and execution efficiency. In this role, you will partner with Physical Design, IP, SoC, and global CAD teams to identify high-impact opportunities for AI-driven innovation and deploy scalable solutions across AMD's implementation methodologies. You will play a key role in shaping the next generation of Physical Design automation, driving AI adoption throughout the implementation flow from RTL to GDSII , and enabling faster design convergence, improved QoR, and more predictable project execution. THE PERSON: You have excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrated through technical publications, presentations, trainings, executive briefings, etc.  You are highly adept at collaboration among top-thinkers and engineers alike, ready to mentor and guide, and help to elevate the knowledge and skills of the team around you.

Identify, define, and drive AI/ML opportunities across the Physical Design flow, including Synthesis, Place & Route, Full-Chip Planning, Timing Closure, and Low Power Design implementation, to improve design quality, productivity, and time-to-market. Lead the development, validation, and deployment of AI-powered CAD solutions that address complex design challenges, optimize PPA (Performance, Power, Area), and enhance engineering efficiency across IP and SoC programs. Partner closely with Physical Design, IP, SoC, and Architecture teams to understand current workflows, identify bottlenecks, gather requirements, and translate business needs into scalable automation and AI-based methodologies. Collaborate with global CAD teams to establish a unified AI strategy, promote technology sharing, and drive consistent deployment of AI solutions across multiple projects and geographic locations. Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for AI infrastructure, data pipelines, model development, workflow integration, and deployment frameworks supporting Physical Design activities. Evaluate emerging AI technologies, industry trends, and EDA innovations , and drive adoption of best-in-class solutions to enhance AMD's Physical Design capabilities and competitive advantage. Mentor and influence engineers across organizations , sharing expertise in AI, Physical Design methodologies, automation, and best practices while contributing to the technical growth of the engineering community. Measure and communicate the impact of deployed AI solutions through productivity gains, design quality improvements, cycle-time reduction, and execution efficiency metrics, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Serve as a technical leader and trusted advisor for AI-driven Physical Design transformation initiatives, influencing roadmap decisions and driving long-term innovation across the design ecosystem.
