More ways to build a career that moves you forward. Overview Group 1 Collision Center in Houston is looking for a skilled Automotive Glass Technician to join our service team. In this role, you'll be responsible for the removal, replacement, and repair of automotive glass, including windshields, back glass, and side windows. The ideal candidate takes pride in precision work, understands the safety-critical nature of glass installation, and delivers a high-quality customer experience from start to finish. Responsibilities
Remove and replace windshields, rear windshields, and side/door glass on a variety of makes and models Diagnose and repair minor chips, cracks, and stone damage using industry-standard repair techniques Perform ADAS calibrations (static and/or dynamic) following manufacturer specifications after glass replacement, when applicable Properly prep, clean, and prime glass and pinch weld areas prior to installation to ensure a secure, leak-free seal Apply urethane and adhesives correctly, following manufacturer-specified cure times and safety drive-away times Inspect vehicles for pre-existing damage and document findings before beginning work Test-drive or inspect vehicles post-repair to confirm proper fit, seal, and functioning of related systems (sensors, cameras, rain-sensing wipers, etc.) Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including proper handling and disposal of broken glass and adhesive materials Accurately complete repair orders, parts requests, and job documentation Communicate with service advisors regarding job status, additional needed repairs, or parts issues Maintain compliance with dealership, manufacturer, and safety standards throughout every repair Stay current on new vehicle glass technologies, calibration requirements, and repair techniques through ongoing training
Qualifications
Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in automotive glass installation/repair (dealership, body shop, or specialty glass shop) Working knowledge of ADAS calibration procedures preferred; willingness to train also considered Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety-critical workmanship Valid driver's license with a clean driving record Ability to lift and maneuver glass panels safely (up to 50+ lbs) Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team-based shop environment High school diploma or equivalent; automotive technical training a plus ASE Auto Glass Technician certification a plus, but not required
