Standard Job Description 
 Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Solar Array Design Engineering Manager, Level 5, to lead a team of design engineers supporting multiple programs across different lifecycle phases in Sunnyvale, California. The Sunnyvale site supports advanced space and mission-focused engineering work, including satellite payloads and full-system integration, making it a strong fit for a cross-program engineering leadership role. This role combines people leadership, technical oversight, and program execution. The manager will direct day-to-day engineering activities, help teams balance priorities across concurrent efforts, and build strong working relationships with cross-functional partners in quality, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, production control, and related organizations.

Key Responsibilities

Lead a diverse and dynamic group of engineers that develop, design, manufacture, test and incorporate solar array products for a variety of programs. Lead and develop a team of design engineers, including work assignments, coaching, performance management, staffing, and career development. Manage day-to-day execution for engineering work across multiple programs with different schedules, milestones, risk profiles, and lifecycle stages. Drive strong collaboration across engineering, quality, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, production control, planning, and program leadership to support design maturity and execution success. Ensure design activities are aligned to technical, cost, schedule, producibility, and quality objectives. Support issue resolution, decision-making, prioritization, and escalation management in a fast-paced program environment. Promote consistent engineering processes, configuration discipline, and clear communication across internal stakeholders. Build an inclusive, accountable, and high-performing team culture grounded in leadership, ownership, and continuous improvement. Manages the research, planning, design and development of mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Directs application of research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. Basic Qualifications 
 Experience with solar arrays, structures, composites and/or mechanisms design Experience working with Manufacturing and Test (Electrical, TVAC, Thermal Cycles, vibe or acoustic testing) Experience leading projects or programs (cost budgeting, scheduling, technical oversight) Experience with technical leadership and ability to address technical, cost and schedule challenges Experience leading engineering teams, integrated product teams, or comparable technical organizations. Strong people leadership and manager skills, including coaching, delegation, communication, and performance development. Experience managing work across multiple programs or products with different lifecycle phases. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as quality, manufacturing engineering, supply chain, and production control. Strong program execution skills with attention to schedule, coordination, and technical delivery. Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
