About this role
This position is part of the AWS Specialist and Partner Organization (ASP). Specialists own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for their respective technology domains, providing the business and technical expertise to help our customers succeed. Partner teams own the strategy, recruiting, development, and growth of our key technology and consulting partners. Together they provide our customers with the expertise and scale needed to build innovative solutions for their most complex challenges. The Strategy Lead (SL) is a key leadership role within the Partner Growth & Strategy (PGS) organization, responsible for leading a team that delivers new and increased capabilities and better end-to-end partner experiences across the worldwide partner community. The vision of PGS is to foster a partner community that is integral to enabling AWS growth to $500B and beyond, by establishing AWS as the preferred AI cloud service provider. This vision is underpinned by a dual mandate: to deeply engage with a representative set of partners while simultaneously leveraging insights, defining best practices, and propagating strategies that empower worldwide partners to build sustainable business practices. The SL leads a team that works directly with ASP teams, AGS/AWSI Field teams, and Partners to identify friction points, blockers, and forward-looking areas of opportunity. You will build and develop a team of strategists, set the vision for the strategy function, and drive execution through your team. As part of qualifying and selecting initiatives to pursue, you and your team will lead the creation of the financial case for action, alignment of stakeholders, creation of target-solutions, and orchestration of required actions to enact change and drive target outcomes. You will define metrics and stand up the required mechanisms to inspect initiatives, enacting necessary improvements and harvesting learnings to feed into parallel and future efforts. You will be accountable for the performance, development, and operational excellence of your team. Key job responsibilities - Build, lead, and develop a team of strategy professionals, setting clear goals, coaching for growth, and fostering an environment of ownership and innovation. - Set the vision and strategic direction for the PGS strategy function, ensuring your team's work remains closely aligned to addressing partner opportunities and challenges. - Direct your team in continuously gathering ASP, Partner, Field, and Customer insights to refine areas of focus for strategy. - Qualify the impact of candidate initiatives against partner cohorts and the worldwide partner community overall; quantifying the potential business value of candidate initiatives. - Prioritize and align leadership to high-impact candidates to increase ASP and partner performance. - Guide your team in designing mechanisms, best practices, processes, and governance models to address gaps and opportunities in focus; leading the implementation and delivery of these strategic initiatives via hands-on engagement with stakeholders and orchestration of cross-functional teams. - Uncover partner needs and Think Big ideas through participation in key partner meetings, primary research, and data analysis; leveraging these insights to ensure customer and partner needs are central to PGS strategy and initiatives. - Represent PGS across SMGS teams, where PGS has decision authority or a vested interest in the capabilities and capacity of the worldwide partner community. - Apply partner and customer engagement expertise to aligning, planning, and constructing solutions for transformation programs and business acceleration initiatives. - Direct participation in annual strategic plan processes. - Establish and maintain operational mechanisms (business reviews, goal tracking, talent reviews) to ensure team health, delivery, and continuous improvement. - Attract, hire, and retain top talent; build a diverse and inclusive team culture.
