The Chemical Operator is responsible for ink manufacturing process that meets company standards for safety, quality, productivity and accuracy. DUTIES
Maintain inventory control and participate in cycle counts Weigh dyes, resins, solvents, and other ingredients in accordance with a formula Train in shipping/receiving and operate material handling equipment (i.e. forklifts, cranes, pallet jacks, etc.) Determine and advise on the availability of necessary materials to meet production schedules. Ensure all unused and excess materials are returned to the warehouse in a timely manner Report shortages of raw materials and supplies to management; accountable for raw material use and disposition Conform to Satellite and 90 Day Accumulation Area standards. Load Hazardous materials and Waste for shipment. Clean up spills under the direction of the site Emergency Coordinator.
Take individual responsibility in keeping work area organized and clean; support housekeeping initiatives (i.e. 5S program) to foster a safe and environmentally sound work environment
Understand requirements and practices when working with or handling potentially hazardous materials Adapt to changing requirements or work assignments to support team goals and objectives Effectively communicate with team members to ensure quality of product and notify management of any deviations
Wear all required safety PPE and perform all work duties in a safe manner following proper procedures
Participate as a member of the site safety committee, as needed, and attend all associated trainings and meetings Work overtime and alternate shifts and roles, as needed Participate on continuous improvement teams, as needed Handle material shipments to other Newell facilities
Prepare paperwork for shipments by road, sea and air Prepare road, air, and sea shipments in SAP Schedule all trucks for material pickup
Assist with material quality issues as it pertains to shipping Perform other duties as assigned
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Successful completion of eye exam with corrected vision at least 20/25 and ability to identify and distinguish colors; hearing exam; pulmonary function test and respirator fit test. Must be able to wear a respirator properly – this is optional Frequent physical effort raising and moving material or objects that are average weight continuously and raise light weight objects or material overhead occasionally Bend, stretch, and reach low and high places frequently; ability to push, pull and lean forward Able to lift up-to 50 pounds Ability to perform standing job for 12 consecutive hours Operate computer, RF gun and other production equipment Ascend/descend multiple levels inside and outside facility Must be able to qualify for and maintain fork lift license; valid state issued driver’s license Complete DOT, IATA, and IMDG training.
WORK HOURS: Monday – Thursday, 5:00am to 3:30pm, overtime and weekends as needed QUALIFICATIONS
HS Diploma or equivalent (GED) Shipping experience preferred Ability to read, write and perform basic math skills with strong attention to detail Experience with Microsoft Office applications and ability to operate basic office machines (i.e. fax, copier, printer and calculator) Should have an understanding of quality control in a manufacturing environment
