The Role

Joining Moderna means advancing mRNA science to transform medicine. Work with exceptional global teams on a broad pipeline and build a career that makes a real difference for patients. Moderna is strengthening Australia’s biotech landscape through a long term partnership focused on pandemic resilience. Our Melbourne based mRNA vaccine manufacturing facility will support rapid response to future health threats while creating skilled jobs and developing local talent. We welcome professionals ready to help advance global health security. Join our mRNA vaccine production unit in Clayton, Melbourne, as a hands-on, individual contributor operating advanced manufacturing equipment in a highly technological cGMP environment supporting Australia. You will combine scientific thinking, technical manufacturing capability and meticulous attention to detail to execute safe, compliant production while rapidly learning new mRNA technologies. This is an opportunity for a digitally savvy operator to work at the intersection of manufacturing, automation and operational excellence—troubleshooting equipment, process and digital issues while contributing to improvements and innovation. You will also have opportunities to get closer to Generative AI and emerging digital tools as Moderna continues to explore how advanced technologies can support learning, problem-solving and manufacturing excellence. The position operates in a 24/7 manufacturing environment and requires flexibility across changing roster schedules, including afternoon and night shifts, weekends, public holidays and overtime in line with production requirements. Here's What You'll Do: Practice safe work habits and consistently adhere to Moderna’s safety procedures, guidelines, health and safety requirements. Execute manufacturing operations in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), standard operating procedures and approved manufacturing documentation. Follow required gowning procedures and maintain excellent housekeeping standards within assigned manufacturing areas to support compliant and safe operations. Operate production equipment supporting mRNA vaccine manufacturing while maintaining meticulous attention to process execution, product quality and documentation. Respond rapidly to routine equipment, process and digital issues, applying technical knowledge and structured troubleshooting to maintain effective operations. Perform routine basic equipment maintenance, including lubrication, basic mechanical checks and filter changes, using appropriate hand tools. Proactively identify and report compliance, health and safety issues to the Manufacturing Supervisor. Participate in incident investigations, including root cause analysis (RCA), and support corrective and preventive action (CAPA) activities. Partner closely with Quality Assurance peers to complete and close the documentation required for timely disposition of commercial batches. Apply established performance tools while working collaboratively to achieve operational KPI objectives and support operational excellence. Maintain training records and associated documentation accurately and ensure they remain up to date. Participate in multiple projects and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced manufacturing environment, bringing a digitally fluent perspective to improvements and innovations. Collaborate effectively across a dynamic, cross-functional matrix environment, working fluidly with peers, leadership and cross-functional support groups. Bring a scientific way of thinking, rapid learning capability and strong technical skills to the adoption of new technologies in mRNA manufacturing.
