About this role: Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for Core Banking Platform team which aims to deliver enterprise level capabilities for Customer Account Ledger and Transaction Processing. In this role, you will: Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor Required Qualifications: 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education Desired Qualifications: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of hands‑on experience, education, training, or military service. 5+ years of Java development experience, including building enterprise‑grade, high‑availability systems. 3+ years of experience designing or implementing low‑latency systems, with deep understanding of performance optimization and concurrency. Proven experience using Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools and implementing observability solutions in distributed systems. Strong experience building scalable streaming and real‑time data processing platforms using technologies such as Kafka, Flink, or similar frameworks. Demonstrated success designing and delivering microservices architectures, with hands‑on Kubernetes experience for container orchestration and deployment. Experience working in banking domain Prior experience leading or mentoring senior engineering teams. Experience with Openshift , Kubernetes Experience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective meetings) Job Expectations: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, operations, and business teams. Familiarity with domain‑driven design (DDD) and event‑driven architecture patterns. Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, and SRE practices.
