Job Description
AECOM's Transit & Planning Group is seeking a creative, highly talented and experienced mid-level Transportation/Transit Planner IV for immediate employment in AECOM's Columbus, OH.Office.
JOB SUMMARY
The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in transportation planning, with specialization in multimodal and transit planning. The best candidates will have experience working directly with public sector clients to analyze and recommend solutions for transportation systems, corridors and sites. The best candidates will have an interdisciplinary background and be conversant in the principles of transportation engineering, transportation infrastructure design, environmental planning, and urban planning/land use planning.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform a variety of transportation planning studies, such as feasibility studies and alternatives analyses. Conduct research and prepare reports on land use, physical, environmental, social and economic issues. Develop plans, studies, and analyses for transportation and transit projects. Manage and perform field data collection, surveys and inspections to gather data. Develop and execute plans for public and stakeholder engagement. Work with GIS and other planning software. Support the preparation of proposals for project pursuits. Mentor and help advise junior staff on methodologies and deliverables.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: BA/BS + 6 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 8+ years of relevant experience and/or education GIS experience and expertise Data Analysis, including visual graphics. Experience in planning for both urban and rural transit systems Experience with non-motorized and bike/ped planning and design. Proficient with excel spreadsheets, word processing and standard office software. Ability to work well in teams. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interest in developing projects and people Coursework and/or project experience in transit planning and policy foundations including transit network concepts, conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments, and awareness of public engagement best practices. Experience with Federal transportation and rapid transit planning processes (e.g. bus rapid transit, light rail transit, commuter rail) including but not limited to, developing a Purpose and Need and advancing a project to a locally preferred alternative. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Basic proficiency with Geographic Information Systems such as ArcMap, ArcPro, and ArcGIS Online. Experience in preparing
