Overview The Manager will lead the Active IQ engineering team in delivering AI, agentic AI, and intelligent automation capabilities that address complex business challenges and advance innovation across NetApp. This role is responsible for managing software systems development and quality assurance functions, guiding Agile execution, and ensuring successful delivery across multiple parallel initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Shape engineering strategy, influence execution priorities, and drive measurable outcomes aligned with business and customer needs Apply deep technical and organizational expertise to resolve complex issues, improve engineering effectiveness, and establish medium- to long-range plans Partner with product management, engineering, design, and customer-facing teams to identify opportunities for actionable intelligence and AI-based solutions within Active IQ Build, mentor, and develop high-performing engineering teams, including senior engineers, experienced engineers, and engineering managers Job Requirements Excellent verbal and written communication skills Clear understanding of the product development lifecycle and project management practices Deep understanding of cloud technologies, with experience in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform Strong understanding of computer architecture, data structures, and programming practices Experience delivering large, complex software development projects using Agile methodologies Experience architecting, implementing, and supporting scalable solutions Demonstrated ability to lead senior engineers, experienced engineers, and engineering managers Ability to work effectively with cross-functional stakeholders in product management, engineering, design, and customer-facing organizations Preferred: Experience with Active IQ, AutoSupport, agentic AI, cloud platforms, and ONTAP storate Experience delivering AI solutions that leverage large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, and modern AI orchestration patterns Technical Skills Ability to design, develop, and maintain agentic AI applications using modern frameworks such as LangGraph, LangChain, Google ADK, Phoenix, Guardrails, Mem0, and related technologies Knowledge of Python, Kafka, and similar technologies Familiarity with database technologies, preferably MongoDB Understanding of container-based technologies, preferably Kubernetes and Docker, with experience in cloud services such as AWS or Azure Experience building enterprise software applications, with a strong focus on Python development and generative AI technologies Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required; a Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred 12+ years of experience in the high-tech industry is required, including prior technical management experience Compensation: The target salary range for this position is 170,000 - 220,000 USD. The salary offered will be determined by the candidate's location, qualifications, experience, and education and may be outside of this range. Final compensation packages are competitive and in line with industry standards, reflecting a variety of factors, and include a comprehensive benefits package.
