Overview
MasTec Civil is hiring a Lead Estimator to assist in the growth of our Florida market! Lead a team to manage and prepare bid package from start-end process including but not limited to: cost saving initiatives, CPM scheduling, Maintenance of Traffic Analysis, bid strategy. After winning a bid, the lead estimator will transfer all documentation, make a presentation, and assist the managerial team with buyouts, value engineering, and future change order analysis. This candidate must be a self-motivated person, willing to collaborate with peers, teach young engineers, and constantly strives to identify problems and solutions. The candidate must be knowledgeable with different type of contract such as: design-build, design-bid-build, Lump Sum; and be familiar with clients such as: FDOT/Turnpike, Miami Dade Expressway (MDX) or similar, South Florida Water Management (SFWMD), city and county authorities. **We are open to experienced candidates located anywhere in the state of Florida. Responsibilities
Constantly review standard and specification updates from owner authority Full understanding of contract terms, requirements, drawings, special provisions, technical specifications, etc. Build breakdown work activity with bid item and quantities Provide initial estimate (green sheet) to have a better understanding of the cost percentage per construction division. Create and analyze Risk Matrix and CPM Scheduling Keep tracking of request for information during bid process Study and review all estimating reports: equipment total hrs., labor total hrs., key indicators, etc. Full review of bid submittal, and lead presentation to executives before bid submittal Keep backups of all estimates Productivity analysis with similar jobs Guide, coordinate, and assign work to every estimator within the team Maintenance of the Estimating software: labor, equipment, permanent material and construction material rate updates. Also, the crew, activity, and bid item codebooks Be aware of global and local economy situation: inflation, construction index price, major commodities trending, etc. Build and create relationship with subcontractors and suppliers Constantly look up for bid opportunities with current clients and new clients Participate in the estimating hiring process, summer internship, and mentoring young estimators Create budget for the awarded contract Qualifications B.S. in Engineering or Construction Management degree. Minimum 10 years of experience in Heavy Civil: field position, and at least 5 years estimating in the USA. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Possess high work values, integrity, and ethical standards.
