Catalog Manager Position Summary The Catalog Manager is responsible for leading the cataloging team and ensuring the accurate, timely, and consistent creation of catalog listings and metadata for items sold through auction. This role oversees the day-to-day execution of catalog operations, balancing priorities across multiple auction launches while maintaining high standards for quality, productivity, and scalability. The Catalog Manager will lead, coach, and develop a growing team of catalogers, building the processes, workflows, and staffing required to support a seven-day-a-week operation. Success in this role requires strong people leadership, operational excellence, cross-functional collaboration, and deep knowledge of the collectibles industry.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development Lead, coach, and develop a team of catalogers to deliver accurate, high-quality catalog listings. Recruit, onboard, and train new catalogers to support business growth and increased auction volume. Establish performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and conduct regular performance reviews. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Develop staffing plans and schedules to support a seven-day-per-week operation. Catalog Operations Own the day-to-day cataloging priorities to ensure auction launches remain on schedule. Ensure catalog data and metadata are complete, accurate, and optimized for customer discovery and auction performance. Monitor productivity, quality, and turnaround times while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency. Balance competing priorities across multiple auctions and changing business needs. Workflow & Operational Management Manage labor allocation to maximize productivity while maintaining service level expectations. Oversee cataloging workflows and continuously improve operational processes. Prioritize and manage Monday.com ticket requests to ensure work is assigned, tracked, and completed efficiently. Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve throughput and quality. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with the Inbound Manager to align intake and cataloging priorities. Work with the Authentication Manager to ensure authenticated items move efficiently through the cataloging process. Coordinate with the Photography Manager to synchronize imaging and catalog production timelines. Collaborate with the Sales team to prioritize high-value consignments, promotional auctions, and business-critical launches. Serve as the primary point of contact for cataloging operations across partner teams. Process Improvement Develop scalable workflows and standard operating procedures to support continued business growth. Utilize operational metrics to drive performance improvements and resource planning. Implement best practices for metadata consistency, catalog quality, and operational efficiency. Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the customer experience and operational effectiveness.
Qualifications
Required Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience. 5+ years of people management experience, including hiring, coaching, and developing high-performing teams. 5+ years of experience in the collectibles
