About the Role
The Mainframe Network System Programmer is a senior professional responsible for the administration, security, availability, and performance of network infrastructure within IBM z/OS environments. This role is critical to ensuring the connectivity and continuity of business-critical services, managing key technologies such as TCP/IP, VTAM/SNA, Communications Server, and high-availability solutions. In this position, the successful candidate will install, configure, and maintain z/OS network software and services, optimize TCP/IP and VTAM/SNA environments, and ensure the security and resilience of enterprise-scale, mission-critical infrastructure. The role requires strong troubleshooting skills to resolve complex connectivity and performance issues, as well as active participation in migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and disaster recovery activities. The ideal candidate is a highly specialized IBM Z/Mainframe networking expert with deep technical expertise combined with leadership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. This individual will collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and vendors, provide technical leadership and mentoring, and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support global operations. Fluency in English is essential for effective collaboration within international teams and global projects. Essential Job Functions Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain z/OS network software and services Manage and optimize TCP/IP and VTAM/SNA environments for performance and reliability Ensure network security, resilience, and operational stability across mainframe environments Troubleshoot complex connectivity and performance issues using z/OS diagnostics and monitoring tools Support migrations, infrastructure upgrades, and disaster recovery activities Collaborate with cross-functional technical teams and vendors on network infrastructure initiatives Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior team members Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support business-critical services Implement and manage network security technologies including AT-TLS, TLS certificates, IPsec, and secure file transfer protocols Develop and maintain automation scripts using REXX, CLIST, or
