Learn more about RayzeBio: https://careers.bms.com/rayzebio/ Summary The Buyer position is responsible for sourcing, assisting with negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, packaging, and other supplies essential to the production of pharmaceutical products. This role ensures the timely availability of direct and indirect materials, compliance with industry regulations, and effective cost management to support uninterrupted manufacturing operations, facility maintenance, and capital projects.
Job Responsibilities
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Source and assist with the evaluation and selection of suppliers for Direct Materials (raw materials, active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), excipients, and packaging materials, etc.) and/or Indirect Materials (Lab supplies, facility maintenance parts, can items related to capital projects). Negotiate prices, terms and opportunities to reduce costs and assist with supplier contracts to achieve the best value and maintain long-term supplier relationships. Place and manage purchase orders, including the triage of any discrepancies, ensuring timely delivery to meet production schedules while maintaining good supplier relationships. Owns and maintains SAP master data Monitors vendor performance, issues periodic reports, and takes corrective action as per current standard operating procedures (SOPs) and standard current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) guidance. Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, and Regulatory teams to ensure all purchased materials meet required standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, cGMP). Collaborate across the enterprise to monitor usage rates and to analyze and adjust safety stock levels to optimize material flow. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory levels using ERP or procurement systems. Report on current and future status of product supply for existing products. Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities and support continuous improvement initiatives in the supply chain.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or related field or 5+ years of progressive experience in supply chain/procurement management within biotech, pharma, or comparable industries. Demonstrated experience in procurement, materials management, and supplier relationship management.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong analytical, strategic, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities. Deep understanding of regulatory requirements (cGMP, GDP, FDA). Experience with S&OP, demand planning, and supply chain optimization. Ability to work in a matrix environment and influence senior leaders. Proficiency in supply chain management methodologies and tools. Familiarity with vendor management, contract negotiation, and cost control processes. Uses AI tools to enhance individual productivity and quality of work Physical Demands Regular interaction within office, warehouse, and manufacturing environments, with PPE required in certain areas.
