Platforms Infrastructure Engineering (PIE) is a cornerstone organization within Google's AI & Infrastructure (AI2) division. PIE's core mission is the end-to-end technical execution, design, development, and delivery of Google's next-generation cloud and AI computing hardware systems, platforms, and physical infrastructure. With key objectives around: Hardware Lifecycle Management, Platform Development & Infrastructure Delivery. As a Senior Director in Capacity assurance, this role is required to lead a large organization of 300+ Googlers in a matrix structure and be responsible for delivering the systems that manage machine state, developing the necessary hardware qualification tests that ensures that our fleet is reliable, properly configured and healthy enough to perform its mission. Drive the organization to deliver roadmap in the areas of platform qualification, software release, and hardware diagnostics. Apply first principles to deliver flexible, optimized, scalable, reliable, and secured software solutions. Leverage AI/ML to deliver highly optimized and adaptive solutions. Bring teams together to deliver complex and innovative software solutions in a timely manner.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. 18 years of experience in software development, architecture, and testing. Experience in hardware testing, deployment, and managing the diagnosis and repair of deployed fleet systems. Experience in distributed networks, compute/storage technologies, and release tools for operational efficiency. Experience leading matrix organizations with team exceeding 300 people. Preferred qualifications: Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field. Experience interacting with senior customer stakeholders (CTOs, Chief Architects) to represent the technical vision of the organization. Management experience leading distributed engineering organizations working on multiple products concurrently. Deep technical understanding of high-performance platforms. Demonstrated track record of influencing cross-functional teams (Product, Engineering, Research) to deliver complex technical outcomes.
