Product Manager 2

We are looking for a Product Manager to join our Individual Solutions team within Retirement and Income Solutions, with responsibilities of leading product strategy, discovery, delivery, and assessment for low to medium complexity products while delivering valuable and viable solutions in partnership with the product team. You'll partner with our product teams, engineering, project and marketing partners while demonstrating curiosity, open-mindedness, and motivation to continue gaining exposure and experience in all phases of the product lifecycle. At Principal, products provide value to customers, users, and partners, and help solve their needs as we work to enable a world where financial security is accessible to all.   You'll have the opportunity to:  Define and execute product strategy for low-to-medium complexity products, successfully scaling the portfolio to incorporate high-complexity tiers and diverse feature sets. Accountable for understanding and defining key business outcomes and requirements for your product(s).  Responsible for bringing the data and insights to the table for product teams and partners to understand and consume (in collaboration with design/experience experts) . Collaborating with technology and non-technology partners. In partnership with other members of a team, works to remove impediments that the team may face in the pursuit of value creation.  Ensures the product team has the customer, user, and stakeholder context required to solve problems effectively and efficiently.  Collaborate with marketing, business, compliance and project management to accurately represent the product. Drive growth through campaign initiatives, and suggest improvements to provide greater participant/customer lifetime value.  Communicates product releases to stakeholders & partners.  Finds opportunities to improve the product management practice within their sphere of responsibility; and takes action to continuously improve. 4+ years of business, technology, or product management experience; or equivalent demonstrated through the following: work experience, military experience, or education.  2+ years’ experience working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with engineering teams and partners.  Possesses strong communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate with collaborators at all levels.  Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of the company and the industry, and comprehensive knowledge of technology and its role in solving business problems.  Possesses understanding of the techniques and methods of modern product discovery and product delivery.  Strong critical thinking/vision, collaboration and decision-making skills along with business savviness and relationship management abilities.  Proven experience collaborating, influencing, and negotiating in a professional team environment, including demonstrating varied perspectives and data to inform actions.  Demonstrates ability to successfully manage multiple workloads and/or competing priorities.

That Will Help You Stand Out   Financial Services/retirement industry experience.  Understanding of the needs of individuals, retirement market dynamics and operations, competition, and trends impacting both the retirement recordkeeping industry and the retail advisory world.  High-level technical understanding of how third-party software as a service is used within your area of scope.
