Pharmacy Technician II

General Summary of Position MedStar Health is hiring a Full Time Pharmacy Technician II to join our team in Elkridge. The shift for this position is 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM. 1.    Safely and accurately prepares all medications in the readiest to administer form, using proper techniques, calculations and appropriate precautions.  2.    Selection and Procurement: Ensures that medications are selected and procured based on departmental criteria. 3.    Stores controlled substances in such a manner to prevent diversion in accordance with state and federal laws and regulations.  4.    Abides by recommendations from regulatory and advisory groups regarding safe medication principles, including look alike, sound alike and high alert drugs.  5.    Assists pharmacists in obtaining patient specific information as appropriate for safe medication management.  6.    Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. 7.    Ensures that medications are properly and safely stored throughout the hospital. Stores medications under conditions necessary to ensure stability.  8.    IV Compounding: performs IV preparation under sterile technique, packages medication for distribution, and maintains daily production logs according. 9. Other duties as assigned This position has a hiring range of USD $19.55 - USD $34.25 /Hr.
