Senior Database Administrator

This position is hybrid, and you may be expected to go into an office 3 days per week. We are AT&T’s Infrastructure Automation & Tools team, a vital part of the company’s technology infrastructure. Our team is responsible for managing and maintaining a diverse portfolio of enterprise database systems that support AT&T’s mission-critical applications and services. With a strong focus on MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle , we ensure the performance, security, and scalability of data platforms across the organization. What You’ll Do As a Senior Database Administrator, you’ll be a key player in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our enterprise-wide database platforms. Database Reliability Engineering : Architect and implement proactive solutions to ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and optimal performance across MySQL, PostgreSQL and Oracle environments. Incident Response & Troubleshooting : Lead rapid response efforts for major database incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolution to minimize business impact. Performance Tuning & Optimization : Analyze system metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies to ensure fast, efficient data access and query performance. Database Architecture & Engineering : Design and evolve database schemas, storage strategies, and deployment models to support new applications and business growth. Security & Compliance : Enforce robust security controls, manage access, and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Technical Leadership : Promote best practices and foster a culture of operational excellence and continuous learning. Cross-Functional Collaboration : Partner with application, infrastructure, and security teams to deliver integrated, scalable, and secure database solutions. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing : Maintain detailed documentation, run-books, and post-incident reviews to promote transparency, learning, and operational maturity. Cover working time : 9 am - 5 pm, with occasional flexibility as per business need What You’ll Need 5+ years of hands-on experience managing and administering databases across multiple platforms. Deep expertise in MySQL , PostgreSQL, and Oracle Industry-recognized certifications in one or more database technologies Strong command of performance tuning, backup and recovery strategies, and database security best practices. Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing the full lifecycle of enterprise database systems. Sharp analytical and troubleshooting skills with a keen attention to detail and system reliability. Solid academic foundation with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
