Provides strong technical expertise and project leadership within the designated company area or specific engineering discipline. Possess and applies advanced knowledge of the subject matter and significant relevant experience to independently perform difficult and the most complex technical work. Responsible for providing expert technical support, direction and advice for the development of projects, programs and engineering products. Performs engineering evaluations, calculations, analysis and design to support the requirements of the designated company area or specific engineering discipline. Exercises independent judgment and decision making to solve complex engineering problems and to manage multifaceted complex projects, including scoping, scheduling, budget development, cost tracking and oversight to meet cost and time objectives. Requires significant experience as a technical lead as well as specialized certifications, education, knowledge or experience required by the work. Serves as the organization's technical subject matter expert for substation equipment and field operations, providing advanced troubleshooting support, evaluating and implementing testing technologies and work methods, delivering specialized training, participating in NATF and other industry forums to identify and share lessons learned, and leading Substation Equipment DCEI reviews to improve equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and operational performance. Implements technology within an engineering field. Focuses on the practical application of engineering theories.  Determines how to make the designs and plans of engineers work. Applies basic scientific and engineering principles and methods, along with technical skills, to support engineering activities. May perform product improvement, testing, field engineering, development, manufacturing, construction, systems development, quality control, and operational engineering. May perform some design and theoretical work, but does not possess the educational background required to function as an Engineer. May perform same work as titled Engineers, but possesses an engineering degree which is not ABET-accredited. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following: 7-8+ years of relevant experience and demonstrated competencies in applicable discipline. In-depth and comprehensive knowledge of engineering principals, theories and practices. In-depth knowledge of industry codes, government regulations and company policies and practices. In-depth knowledge of design and operation of complex systems and equipment. Ability to apply expert knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve complex and broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline. Ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadlydefined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline. Strong oral, written and graphical communication skills including technical writing; ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature. Ability to conduct standard tests, measurements and experiments. Ability to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes. Equally effective working independently and in a team
