About this role
Klarna, briefly At Klarna, we're building an everyday finance network, helping over 120 million consumers across 26 countries save time and money, and worry less about their finances. Working here means taking on problems most companies never get to solve, and being hands-on enough that the interesting part of the work lands with you, not someone else — you'll build with AI, not watch it happen. This is the stretch zone. Come find out what you're capable of.
About the role
We're looking for a proactive, creative and media-obsessed Communications Manager to strengthen Klarna's presence across the US. Klarna is listed on the NYSE and covered continuously by US press, so this is the market where the most is at stake in how Klarna's story gets told — and you'll have real influence over how it gets shaped. While your strongest media network may be in the US, this is a global-facing position requiring close collaboration across multiple markets. You'll be ready to roll up your sleeves and drive stories beyond borders — supporting launches, corporate milestones and product communications across the region. For the right person, this breadth makes the position even more interesting. You will work across consumer, corporate and product communications, making sure Klarna's story lands across personal finance, business, tech and mainstream media. You'll work directly with top-tier media and with senior leaders, at a company that treats communications as a strategic function rather than a service desk. We need someone who thrives in competitive media landscapes — who lives for building journalist relationships, spotting story angles others miss, and turning business "nuggets" into headlines. You’ll be joining the Global Communications Team — a driven, passionate, collaborative and fun group that identifies opportunities and solves problems together. Nothing is someone else’s problem on this team: we do the right thing for the company.
What you'll do
You'll build and nurture relationships with top-tier media across the US. You'll develop and execute integrated communications strategies spanning consumer, corporate and product announcements. You'll partner closely with product teams to translate launches, features and innovations into media-ready narratives. You'll turn data points, insights and market trends into newsworthy storylines that land locally and regionally. You'll pitch stories proactively across personal finance, business, tech and mainstream outlets. You'll prepare and brief spokespeople for media opportunities and speaking engagements. You'll monitor media and competitor landscapes across the US to identify trends, risks and differentiation opportunities. You'll defend Klarna's reputation by addressing misperceptions and pushing for fair, accurate reporting. You'll collaborate with global, product, legal, marketing and public policy teams so a single story stays consistent everywhere it lands. You'll help build the processes and routines that keep standards consistent across markets. You'll bring bold ideas — we expect you to push us forward.
Who you are
You've spent 5+ years in communications, spanning consumer, corporate and product communications. You've built a US media network you can activate today, and you're ready to drive stories across markets rather than staying in one. You're a natural storyteller — you can take a product update, data point or insight and turn it into a headline. You're commercially aware and forward-thinking, with instincts for what will resonate culturally and financially across markets. You've worked in tech-driven environments where priorities shift week to week, and you take full ownership of outcomes without waiting for direction. You're detail-oriented, and you check facts, figures and names before anything goes out. You're energized by pitching, relationship-building and seeing stories land across multiple markets. Bonus points for Agency experience, combined with
