Job Summary The Quality and Field Operations Coordinator (Level 6) at General Motors de Mexico will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and high-quality execution of field operations through effective coordination and adherence to established business warehousing processes. The Quality Logistics Coordinator is responsible for monitoring, managing, and resolving quality and damage-related issues across the finished vehicle export logistics network. This role acts as the interface between yard/port operations, transportation carriers, manufacturing plants, and internal GM teams to ensure vehicles are transported safely, meet export quality standards, and that claims are managed to maximize collectability. The position reports to the Vehicle Logistics area and is mainly responsible for ensuring that vehicles reach our dealer network with the same quality as they leave the assembly lines.
Job Responsibilities
Coordinate and monitor various aspects of field operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards and operational procedures. Manage and optimize business processes, including inventory control, storage, and distribution of vehicles. Conduct vehicle inspections at yards, documenting exceptions and complying with GM and AIAG inspection reporting standards whenever a vehicle transitions between parties. Monitor and validate export shipping protections (transit film/wrap guard, full body cover, corrosion protection, brake rotor protection) per GM Global Export Shipping Requirements. Coordinate with yard/port managers and transportation business partners to mitigate damages and coordinate repairs; responsible to lead the repair process and the repair supplier at all GM sites providing continuous feedback, solving roadblocks and measure their performance; determine damage responsibility and coordinate repair or total-loss disposition for in-transit damaged units. This includes vandalism and damages that occurs either by the yard/port manager or carries that include Rail, Haulaway and Vessel or Ocean carriers, assuring that all the units are delivered with zero defects during transportation to the final customer. Work with suppliers to mitigate repetitive damages and investigate root causes, assuring implementation of action plans to mitigate the condition. Support GM Quality (central quality and plant quality) to coordinate that all the quality campaigns inspections that apply for vehicles in Mexico take place and vehicles are shipped according the standard defined and/or required, including inspections and repairs. Coordinate the up fitted process performed by the suppliers at the VDCs or any other location designated for this activity. Work as a team with CCA department on the supply of parts for vehicles required assuring that all restrictions or roadblocks are removed to successfully get parts on time. Provide feedback to VSSM team in regards of the status and vehicles that are not saleable due to a damage or quality campaign as well as work together with them to define priorities. This role is accountable for the performances of supplier on GM sites in terms of Quality and Safety during field operations and provide feedback to VSSM team in regards of the status and vehicles that are not saleable due to a damage or quality campaign as well as work together with them to define priorities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve operational bottlenecks and quality issues in a timely manner. Prepare and analyze reports on operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions, data analysis and decision making. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to field operations and yard manager activities. Support the implementation of new processes and technologies to enhance operational efficiency and quality. Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders regarding operational updates and requirements.
