The role of the Automation Engineer (Software Engineer) is primarily two-fold. First, to be a great Nucor team member who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. Second, is to ensure the success of the team by SAFELY performing maintenance, programming, and upgrade tasks on Level II software systems, as well as proposing and implementing innovative solutions to challenges in the steel making process and business. Multiple automation positions will be hired and successful candidates will be assigned to a mill area based on experience and need. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications:
• Fundamental control theory knowledge • 2+ years’ experience in industrial controls role or similar • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and scheduled and unscheduled overtime Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US, Nucor Steel Brandenburg will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications:
Industrial process automation communications experience (i.e. Ethernet IP, Profinet, Profibus, etc.)
Knowledge of languages and/or technologies including C#, .NET, SQL, JSON, XML, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, machine learning
Can contribute and function at multiple levels of the Purdue Reference Model for enterprise control
Can design or build advanced optimization, simulation, and automation systems within a manufacturing environment
