Title: Mechanical Engineer – Enclosures, Frames & Sheet Metal Grade : E2/ E2S Job Description: Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the Design, Development, qualification, and lifecycle support of equipment Enclosures, Structural frames, Sheet metal assemblies used in semiconductor equipment. The role requires close collaboration with manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, quality, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver robust, cost-effective, and manufacturable mechanical solutions that meet performance, safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements. The position also drives continuous improvement, value engineering, and product standardization initiatives throughout the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop sheet metal enclosures, machine frames, weldments, doors, panels, brackets, and associated mechanical assemblies. Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve manufacturability and reduce product cost and streamline assembly processes. Perform structural, vibration, seismic, and tolerance analyses to validate mechanical design performance and reliability. Designs comply with applicable SEMI, safety, regulatory, and industry standards. Collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality teams to resolve fabrication, assembly, installation, and field-related issues. Partner with suppliers to optimize fabrication methods, welding processes, powder coating requirements, material selection, and manufacturing processes. Support value engineering and cost reduction initiatives through component standardization and design optimization. Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, root-cause investigations, and corrective action implementation. Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, reliability, serviceability, and manufacturing efficiency. Support installation, testing, qualification, and sustaining engineering activities. Create and maintain 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed engineering drawings. Develop and release engineering documentation, including BOMs, specifications, ECOs, and drawing packages.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline. 5+ years of experience in mechanical design of sheet metal, structural frames, and equipment enclosures. Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, and assembly processes. Knowledge of structural design principles, material selection, finishes, coatings, and manufacturing processes. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and collaboration skills in a cross-functional engineering environment. Proficiency in Creo Experience creating detailed engineering drawings with GD&T in accordance
