Job Area: Legal Group, Legal Group > Legal Counsel General Summary: ***Must be a U.S. citizen and eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance*** Qualcomm is looking for an attorney to join our Qualcomm Government Technologies (QGOV) legal team. The successful candidate will provide sophisticated legal advice and services on contractual and regulatory, cybersecurity, and commercial and technology-related issues that arise for a commercial company engaging with U.S. government and other government, international defense, and public safety customers. In this role, you will apply advanced knowledge of legal risk management, public-sector decision-making, and cross-functional legal coordination to develop practical solutions for senior leadership and business stakeholders. Qualifications: • 7+ years in practice with relevant experience. • Demonstrated ability to advise senior leadership, make legally sound strategic recommendations, and coordinate across departments, agencies, or business teams. • Experience with technology, cybersecurity, or national security related legal issues. • Leadership experience directing legal strategy, managing matter teams or portfolios, developing training programs, or supervising significant legal processes. Minimum Qualifications: • Juris Doctorate degree or international equivalent. • 5+ years of relevant experience as counsel at a law firm or in-house. • Active bar license or other lawful ability to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the employee will be located (for example, ability to gain admission as registered in house counsel). Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Drafts, negotiates, reviews, and revises complex legal documents, including proposals, agreements, and strategic legal memoranda. • Applies advanced knowledge of legal risk, compliance standards, privacy, cybersecurity, national security, and technology-related issues to support strategic objectives. • Reviews legal, factual, technical, policy, and operational information from multiple sources to troubleshoot complex matters, identify key issues, and recommend practical resolution options. • Works with other Legal colleagues to direct legal strategy and decision-making across assigned portfolios, and collaborates across internal teams, departments and outside counsel to resolve complex legal issues. • Develops training, best practices, and internal processes to strengthen legal judgment, and consistent execution across contracts and legal teams. Level of Responsibility: • Works independently with little supervision. • Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. Role may require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents. • Has a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to make key decisions). • Substantial creativity is needed to innovate new processes, procedures, or work products within guidelines or to achieve established objectives. • Works on abstract problems in unique situations that require intricate analysis, and evaluation of ambiguous factors. Directs the resolution of highly complex, unusual, or abstract business problems across functional or organization lines. Through assessment of intangible variables, identifies, and evaluates fundamental issues, providing strategy and direction for major functional areas. • Occasionally participates in strategic planning within own area affecting immediate operations.
