Position
Summary This position is responsible for building and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure that Duke Energy is well positioned to develop and scale relationships with small, local, and diverse suppliers. In addition, the incumbent works in close partnership with all Supplier Engagement and Diversity teammates across all regions to ensure consistent approach and communications. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining active, constructive strategic relationships with community economic development organizations, supplier diversity councils, and/or boards to include collaboration with peer utilities and state and federal regulatory entities including (but not limited to) the General Services Administration and the Small Business Administration; Coordinating and actively participating in supplier diversity trade fairs, conferences and other (internal and external ) outreach events; coordinating participatory support from Supply Chain, Business Units, operational areas and select suppliers, when appropriate; develops and presents speeches, training classes and other educational materials related to supplier engagement and diversity; build and maintain active relationships with internal customers and actively promote the supplier diversity program; seeks to understand service and commodity requirements across the enterprise; perform comprehensive analysis of supply base and spend to assess utilization gaps and be able to target outreach efforts to identify potential viable small, local, and diverse suppliers; Develop and maintain a viable pool of small, local, and diverse suppliers to increase their utilization for current and future procurement requirements; Serve as a key liaison between Duke Energy corporate and operations departments and small, local, and diverse suppliers; including engaging in discussions with suppliers to determine capabilities and benefits to Duke Energy; educates small, local, and diverse suppliers in how to do business with Duke Energy; focuses on enhancing both the level and quality of purchases from small, local, and diverse suppliers.
Responsibilities
Develops strategies with Supply Chain leadership to provide opportunities to small, local, and diverse suppliers and increase supplier spend; implements and manages the supplier diversity processes, develops measures and provides reporting Represents Duke Energy to small, local, and diverse suppliers; engages in discussions with suppliers to determine capabilities and benefit to Duke; educates small, local, and diverse suppliers in how to do business with Duke Energy, qualifies small, local, and diverse suppliers Participates in community relations, economic development and public relations functions to promote the supplier diversity strategy; Provides effective interface with various national and local diversity organizations and chambers of commerce; Represents Duke Energy on small, local, and diverse committees and/or boards Coordinates trade show participation and works with team to coordinate Duke Energy hosted outreach and exchange events Develops and presents speeches, training classes and other presentations related to the supplier diversity agenda Performs other work including compiling and analyzing opportunities Required/Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree 6 years related work experience In lieu of Bachelor's degree(s)
