Intermediate Environmental Scientist, Engineer in Training, or Technologist Contaminated Sites Play an integral role in Worley Consulting’s Environmental & Sustainability (E&S) practice, where technical expertise, environmental stewardship, and innovative problem-solving help clients manage environmental liabilities, restore impacted sites, and deliver sustainable outcomes across the full asset lifecycle. As part of our Contaminated Sites team, you will contribute to environmental assessment, remediation, reclamation, and monitoring projects that support responsible development and long-term asset stewardship across Alberta and northern Canada. This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced environmental professional to combine technical expertise, field leadership, project coordination, and mentorship while helping clients navigate complex environmental challenges and regulatory requirements. You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams, support meaningful environmental outcomes, and contribute to projects that create lasting value for clients, communities, and the environment. Purpose of the role As an Intermediate Environmental Scientist, Engineer in Training, or Technologist, you will play a key role in delivering contaminated site assessment, remediation, reclamation, and environmental monitoring programs across Alberta and northern Canada. You will provide field leadership, technical execution, project coordination, and mentorship while supporting successful project delivery and maintaining Worley’s commitment to safety, operational excellence, and environmental responsibility. Working closely with Project Managers, senior technical specialists, clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams, you will lead field investigations, contribute to technical assessments and reporting, mentor developing professionals, and support innovative solutions that help clients manage environmental risk and achieve sustainability objectives. This position provides a strong pathway toward project management, technical specialization, and leadership opportunities within Worley Consulting’s Liability Management and Restoration practice. Location(s): Calgary, Alberta or Edmonton, Alberta This is a full-time position based in either Worley Consulting’s Calgary or Edmonton office. The role includes frequent travel throughout Alberta and may involve assignments in the Northwest Territories and other northern or Arctic regions. Field programs may require rotational schedules, remote-site work, extended travel, and work in challenging environmental conditions. You will be responsible for Leading and coordinating environmental field programs, including groundwater and surface water monitoring, soil sampling, drilling oversight, borehole logging, groundwater well installation, test pitting, remedial excavations, and reclamation activities. Planning and executing contaminated site investigations and environmental assessment programs in accordance with Alberta regulatory requirements and industry best practices. Conducting and supporting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and contributing to remediation, reclamation, and risk management strategies. Providing field leadership during environmental assessment, remediation, and restoration projects while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to high technical standards. Coordinating field crews, subcontractors, and project resources while maintaining project schedules, quality expectations, and health and safety requirements. Mentoring junior environmental staff through field supervision, technical guidance, training, and ongoing development opportunities. Supporting Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, logistics coordination, execution, and issue resolution.
