Our Collins Communication, Navigation & Surveillance team is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to design and maintain computer hardware components for our award winning avionics systems. This is an onsite position in Burnsville, Minnesota.
What You Will Do
Review and maintain awareness of obsolete parts on assigned products. Provide appropriate resolution to obsolete parts. Design and analyze digital and analog circuits using schematic capture tools and performance simulation tools. Characterize digital and analog signals using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers and related test equipment. Design and analyze digital circuits including computer hardware components (e.g., processors, memory, interfaces), and their performance characteristics (e.g., throughput, processing architecture, timing, capacity). Provide supervision and technical guidance for PCB layout. Perform hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment. Perform validation and verification activities to ensure products meet design specifications. Contribute to engineering estimates for limited to moderate scope of electrical design problems. Review LRU defects trends, identify systemic root causes and process improvements and recommend new approaches, tools, and techniques that drive continuous improvements in the development processes. Use your excellent written and verbal communication for technical documentation and collaboration.
What You Will Learn
Deeper knowledge in electrical hardware simulation, analysis, and design (digital, mixed signal, and power). Collins development engineering processes and practices. Aircraft/avionics certification processes.
Qualifications
You Must Have: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience Must be U.S. Person - Job requires access to ITAR or 600/500-series EAR information or hardware (directly or indirectly) and the company will not seek an export authorization for this role. 3+ years of experience designing and analyzing analog and digital circuits using schematic capture tools and performance simulation tools. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex hardware issues Qualifications We Prefer: Experience with RTCA/DO-160, DO-254, and FCC/ETSI
