Supervises employees who use a variety of equipment such as forklifts, conveyers, cranes, hand carts, and power trucks to move materials, parts, assemblies, and finished products or goods within a plant, office, or warehouse. Oversees the processing, packaging, and storage of supplies, materials, and equipment. May assist in selecting appropriate containers and wrapping methods for materials to be shipped or stored. Coordinates with engineers, shippers, carton manufacturers, and carpenters for special crating and packing requirements. Supervises employees who maintain records and check invoices/bills of lading. Must Have
Bachelors degree in a relevant discipline (or the equivalent in education, training and experience), plus a minimum of 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience; Master's degree and 2 years relevant experience. Nice to Have
The candidate should possess a combination of leadership, technical, and interpersonal skills to effectively manage a team of material handlers in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. They should be able to motivate and direct their team, ensure accurate and efficient movement of materials, and communicate effectively with team members, other shifts, and management. The candidate should also have problem-solving skills, technical knowledge of material handling equipment, and the ability to manage workflows and meet deadlines. They should be flexible and adaptable, with a strong commitment to safety protocols and procedures. Additionally, the candidate should have analytical skills to optimize processes and improve efficiency, as well as interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with team members and other departments. Finally, they should be self-motivated and able to stay engaged during a shift with limited interaction with other teams or management.
