Role may require rare, but occasional, travel onsite depending on business need. Schedule : Monday-Friday, standard business hours. Schedule to be determined upon hire. Primary Responsibilities : Oversee the daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) Department under the supervision of HIM leadership. Provide management support to the team comprised of Data Integrity and ROI specialists, Records Management specialists and Admin representatives. Work closely with the HIM leadership, privacy, and legal departments to ensure the team stays current with changes to the Federal Privacy Act, HIPAA laws and any state or local laws. Ensure the department and organization are following all applicable federal, state, and local laws as it relates to the release of information. Work with HIM management to evaluate staff performance, productivity, and quality measures, ensuring that they meet the departmental standards. In coordination with HIM leadership, trains, provides feedback, evaluates, and provides corrective action to staff as needed. Review unique medical records requests with the privacy and legal departments ensuring all requests are completed with a high-level of accuracy and correctness. Perform root causes analysis on data discrepancies, working with HIM management to rectify identified issues. Maintain strict patient confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA guidelines and applicable laws as it relates to the release of PHI data. Ensure the highest-level standard of customer service is provided across the HIM team. Identify, resolve, and escalate issues appropriately, while informing HIM management of all compliancy and PHI integrity issues, customer complaints, and incidents in a timely manner. Manage and monitor all Release of Information and Identity work queues and reports. Communicate HIM operation and activities to the HIM Director and other organization leaders, keeping them updated on pertinent information. Provides best in class level of customer service when interacting with all patients, providers, and third-party requestors. Work closely with the HIM leadership to execute priority initiatives in a timely and effective manner. Assist with special projects and other job-related duties as assigned.
